CISV International Programmes where friendship does the teaching
There is a CISV international Programme for every age from 11 to 17, and local projects for everyone.
International Programmes for Young People
We bring young people from different countries and culture together to build friendship, understanding and peace in a more cooperative world
At CISV London, we believe that some of life's most valuable lessons are learned through friendship, shared experiences and discovering the world together.
Our unique educational programmes give young people aged 11 to 17 the opportunity to connect with others from different countries and cultures, build confidence, develop independence and create friendships that can last a lifetime.
Through international camps, fun activities, teamwork and meaningful conversations, participants learn to appreciate differences, challenge their perspectives and become active global citizens — all in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment guided by trained volunteers.
There are no classrooms, no exams and no traditional lessons. Just unforgettable experiences that help young people grow, discover their potential and make a positive difference in the world.
From their first international adventure to programmes designed for older teenagers, CISV offers an exciting journey of personal development, with local activities and projects bringing our community together throughout the year.
Camps where friendship does the teaching
Our Educational Philosophy
CISV believes that peace starts with friendship. Our programmes help young people discover and understand the world by living and learning alongside children and teenagers from different countries, cultures and backgrounds.
Guided by trained volunteers, participants develop mutual respect, empathy, communication skills and an appreciation of diversity.
We believe that by encouraging understanding and friendship across cultures, we can inspire future generations to contribute to a more peaceful and inclusive world.
International Friendship
Different countries. Different cultures. Friendships without borders.
At CISV, young people from around the world come together to share everyday experiences, discover new cultures and build meaningful connections.
These friendships often extend far beyond camp, creating lasting connections across countries and cultures. For many participants, the experience opens the door to a lifelong international community.
Learning Through Experience
At CISV, learning happens through experience rather than traditional teaching.
There are no lessons and no exams. Young people play, cook, create, take on group challenges, work together and share ideas.
Through these activities, participants develop important life skills, including teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, independence and communication.
This approach makes learning meaningful, memorable and relevant to everyday life.
Global Citizenship
CISV encourages young people to become thoughtful, responsible and active global citizens.
Through international experiences and meaningful discussions, participants develop a broader understanding of the world and the challenges faced by different communities. They return home with greater confidence, independence, empathy and a willingness to make a positive difference in their schools, communities and beyond.

All these programmes are organised and run by dedicated volunteers. We aim to help our participants of all ages to develop the skills they need to take a lead and make positive difference. At the heart of everything we do is friendship, in line with our founding belief that peace is possible through friendship and mutual understanding

A Little Reminder…
CISV is a volunteer-led organisation. At the core of our work lies the values of respect, solidary and generous exchange.
CISV London receives invitations to camps because we host every year. As a result, it is critical that our community supports our hosting activity. Our ability to host determines the invitations we will receive in the following years. However, we don’t have control over the invitations we receive from the other CISV chapters and cannot therefore, anticipate in which countries or at which dates our young people will have the chance to go and experience CISV.
Children and young people are selected during the winter mini-camp and delegations are organised bearing in mind the need to ensure a good dynamic within each delegation. Once a family has accepted the place their child was offered after selection, no change are possible. Indeed, if CISV London doesn’t send a full delegation a fine will be sent by CISV International.
